AMD Catalyst 8.95 24 January Benchmark

AMD Catalyst

In Shader Model 2.0 8.95 24 January sits right between 12.1 WHQL and it’s smaller brother. But in Shader Model 3 it performs even worse than 12.1 WHQL.

Unigine results are always close. All three drivers show the same performance across all APIs.

Just like in the case of it’s little brother, 8.95 24 January lacks the performance boost that OpenGL Driver versions let us initially think.

You’re always fast as usual in finding/testing official/leaked AMD Catalyst drivers. Because of that this site is first I open hen i start a new day. Thanks for the 8.95 24 benchmark. Keep up the good work :)

  • cristian.a

    thank for the benching !!

  • Bulldozer

Thanks for making those benchmarks! If it’s not too expensive, is there any way you can add Star Wars: The Old Republic?

It may sound bad but I can barely keep the site up as it is. SWTOR is subscription based and that makes it a bit expensive…

      • Bulldozer

Yeah, I can imagine that. :-/ How about putting some advertisement on the sides of your page? Seems to me that a lot of people are visiting your website on a daily basis!

I Still Think that the 8.93-111118a-128864E-ATI (BETA 18 NOV) is the best driver. I Compared this page against the results of that driver, and it still wins in practically every game (if not all of them).

For Example In BattleField 3 DX11, the average is 36 FPS with this new ones, and with BETA 18 NOV is 40 FPS. Similar, but with different values happens with every other game, and this driver Wins in first place in all of them (or at least, it ties against some other).

This website is just grate, seriously. Driver benchmarks are perfect as this way i can know if it will be worth the upgrade or “not really” :)

No, no, no, those are not comparable. Since 11 January I changed the way I did the tests. Before 11 January I tested Battlefield 3 in Singleplayer but after that date all BF3 tests were ran in Multiplayer.

If you really want to compare 11.12 18 Nov Beta with any of the new AMD drivers you should take the data for 11.12 Nov 18 Beta from here: http://benchmark3d.com/amd-catalyst-11-12-8-921-5-29-december-benchmark

Oh, Sorry, my bad. I Read the settings (resolution, etc) and i assume that it was the same test methodology. I did read you were changing the way the info graphics would appear (not a super huge list, instead, smaller but more informative graph) thats why i assumed they were the same.

So, December 29 driver looks better in some benchmarks, however 18 November has better minimums. I’m keeping 18 NOV by now, until i grab my SSD, after that i’ll see if there is any new driver worth the install.

Thank you, just keep up this awesome work! :)

Looks like I will stick with the 12.2 preview its second best in B3D benchmark performance results overall and it runs all my games great. Including the ever crabby RAGE tech 5 Open GL engine. After its 1.2 update alot of drivers that were quasi-stable broke. Even before it was updated where one driver worked another broke the game to unplayable levels. 12.1a had an optimization to fix the game for the upcoming patch, but it completely corrupted any game w/o the patch but the driver was released a couple weeks before the patch so out of curiosity.., as BM3D assumed it did not work on those un-patched games yet. Afterwards (after the patch) it worked, but not as well as 12.2 Preview so ..there you have my 2 cents.

I’m gonna take a look at Rage 1.2 pretty soon and see what improved. I had a annoying vSync issue (among other) after the first patch and made benching impossible.

Also thinking of removing COP and Unigine from testing and adding 3DMark 11 and another game (Rage?). Will have to think about it, also I have to retest all drivers with Skyrim 1.4 + other tests I will add and that will take some time. ATM spare time is limited..

this website is the one i most checked very often. as often as im checking my facebook. this should be the absolutely necessary site for every AMD/ATI gamers worldwide and SHOULD BE MADE OFFICIAL PARTNER TO AMD OFFICIAL SITE.

    thats what i think.

    Hi, Great work!

    like luxmark.
nowadays lots of encoders turning to opencl(GPGPU)
    thx
