AMD Catalyst 8.95 17 January Benchmark

Although things never turned out to be what all of us expected (OpenGL performance) this 8.95 driver is the best there is at the moment. Take a look at the following chart:

Conclusion

Pros about AMD Catalyst 8.95 17 Driver:

• Best performance with Battlefield 3.
• Relative good performance with every game when compared to other drivers.
• No major bugs; at least with games/apps used for these tests.
• Overall, best performing driver yet.

Cons about AMD Catalyst 8.95 17 Driver:

• Beta driver
• You will encounter bugs, eventually.
• Tricky to uninstall. See this for complete removal.
• Despite popular believes (also mine), OpenGL isn’t the strong point of this driver.
• No official support.

All results seen here will (slightly) differ with every single computer/card no matter what. Unfortunately I can’t test with more cards, mostly lack of funds. I’d love to test drivers/games with the current generation of AMD Graphic Cards, if you want to help you can do so (details are on the right).
